Current Events and Obama Dream Surveys

Friday, November 6th, 2009

Current Events Are you dreaming about President Obama, Michael Jackson, or maybe Swine Flu? If so, this survey is for you. IASD is now collecting dreams of current events, celebrities, and politicians that are hot in the news. Please pass the following link around on your social networks: http://asdreams.org/survey

Once at the site, you will also find dream information and research related to these topics. Are you a researcher with resources or data on dreams of hot topics and current events? Contact IASD at office@asdreams.org This month’s Dream Survey Focus: Dreams of US President Barack Obama.

Obama Kelly Bulkeley is reviving the www.idreamofobama.com website, which carries forward the political dreams website founded in early 2008 by Sheila Heti. He is interested in hearing new dreams about President Obama and ideas about their possible meanings, both personal and collective. Kelly is going to add several new posts a week, usually a dream and brief reflections, and invite comments. He will make connections with other people in IASD and elsewhere who have been studying Obama dreams and the creative interplay of dreaming and culture. Hopefully over time this will become a resource for anyone who’s curious about how dreams reflect a community’s ideals, fears, and conflicts. The first new post will appear on Wednesday, November 4, one year after the U.S. Presidential election. Kelly appreciates hearing your advice, comments, and dreams: kellybulkeley@earthlink.net

IASD Returns to Asheville for the 2010 Dream Conference

Friday, November 6th, 2009

New Venue. New Dates.

IASD’s 27th Annual Conference will be held at the Crowne Plaza Resort in Asheville, North Carolina. The conference will open on Sunday evening, July 27, and conclude with the Dream Ball on Thursday night, July 1, 2010.

The conference planning committee had to work quickly to establish the new venue following unforeseen circumstances requiring cancellation of the original plans to meet at Western Carolina University.

The Crowne Plaza Resort is a serene retreat located on 125 rolling acres overlooking downtown Asheville. It is a full-service resort with an 18-hole par 70 regulation golf course, four outdoor clay tennis courts, a heated outdoor swimming pool, an on-site fitness room, spacious guest rooms, 30 deluxe vacation villas, and complimentary high-speed wireless Internet access.

The Crowne Plaza is just 12 miles from the Asheville Regional Airport, with direct flights to and from Atlanta, Charlotte, and Chicago International airports. Shuttle service is available between the resort and the airport.

Plan to extend your stay in North Carolina through the 4th and beyond so you can enjoy all the state has to offer: hiking, biking, rafting, and kayaking. View the artwork of potters, weavers and artists and visit the Great Smoky Mountains National Park or the famous Biltmore Chateau.

Make 2010 the year you decided to visit North Carolina – the state that produced Andrew Jackson, James Polk, Charles Karault, Hiram Rhoades Revels (first African-American member of the US Congress), Thomas Wolfe, award-winning movies, and the not to be forgotten Pepsi and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts.

More information on the conference, including the registration form and procedures for submitting presentation proposals, can be found on the conference website: www.asdreams.org/2010
