9-11 Dreams

Dreams Surrounding 9-11 Needed Ernest Hartmann has been studying for many years the dreams of people who have experienced a serious trauma. He believes that all of us experienced a serious trauma on September 11, 2001. Therefore he would be most grateful for help from any of you who have been keeping a dream log or regularly recording your dreams for some time, and who would be willing to share some of them with him. If this description fits you and you'd like to participate, what he would need is a copy of your last ten dreams recorded before 9/11/01, and your first ten dreams starting the evening of 9/11/01. I need the dreams exactly as they are written. Do not select particular dreams, omit dreams, or alter dreams in any way (except to omit or change people's names if you wish). Your dreams will be treated with complete respect and confidentiality. For more information, please contact Ernest Hartmann M.D., at EHDream@AOL.com.

NP News wants 9-1-1 Dreamers
We are looking to talk to people about their dreams since the terror attacks. Each interview will be videotaped and last only about 10 minutes. We will simply ask about the dreams and how they make people feel. Then we'll take the interviews to world-renowned dream experts who will give us some insight and offer suggestions on how people can cope with these often stressful and anxiety-causing nightmares.

Angel Dreams I previously published Our Dreaming Mind (Ballantines,1994) and am currently working on a book about dreams in which an angelic figure appeared. I would be grateful for any accounts of such dreams, along with a description of what was going on in the dreamer's life at the time and what the effect was on the dreamer's life afterwards. Bereavement Dream Series. Those who have suffered a tragic loss by death of someone very close and were recording their dreams at the time, are being solicited for a research project on bereavement dreams, transcendence and the healing process. The recorded dream period should be 6 months or longer following a death that occurred a year or more ago. Research is being conducted by Geri Grubbs, Ph.D., Jungian analyst. She is in special need of dreams had by men. If you think you may be interested in participating, please contact Geri by telephone at 425-844-8194, or through e-mail at gerig@access1.com.

Call for Dream Art I am currently writing a book about spiritual dreams, called "Dreamjourneys: How to Dream Your Way to Healing and Spiritual Awakening." The book focuses on the shamanic perspective, presenting powerful shamanic dreamwork techniques, both original and drawn from indigenous cultures from all over the world. As such, I am seeking dream art to illustrate the book. I am especially interested in art from dreams that have a spiritual content, such as dreams of spirit guides, angels, totems, God/dess, healing dreams, dreams of the dead, precognitive or psychic dreams, or soul journey dreams. If you have a piece of art that was directly "gifted" to you during a dream, or was strongly dream-inspired, whether it be visual, poetry, sculpture, or other media that can be easily printed in book or magazine form, please send a picture of it with a description of the dream to Taylor Kingsley, 1678 Shattuck Ave. #275, Berkeley, CA 94709 or email to shaman@sirius.com. I can also be reached at (510) 653-7293. If your art is viewable on your website, you can also apply by referring me to same. There is no compensation, alas, however the artist will be credited, his/her art viewed and appreciated by thousands more people. There is no fee for applying and all rights remain with the artist. Thank you, and sweet dreams! - Taylor Kingsley

Children's Dreams and Trauma I have been doing a great deal of clinical work and research work with dreams after trauma and how dreams seem to "handle" trauma. So far, however, this has all been in adults. Does anyone have a long series of dreams or a "dream log" from a child? Your own child perhaps? And does this series or log cover a period when the child experienced any traumatic event, even a minor one? If so, and if you might be willing to share this material , please get in touch. I'll be happy to discuss this with you -- why I think such dreams are important, etc. Thank you. Ernest Hartmann M.D. 27 Clark St, Newton MA 02159. (617) 969 9383. Fax: 617 965-6548. Call for Nightmares or "Dark" Dreams Dream research Author, Jennie Hatherley is now researching for her second dream book. It focuses on nightmares and dark dreams. Share an impactful nightmare or fascinating dark dream with Jennie by email. Write about the context of the dream, and what it means to you, and any questions it arouses. For those dreams selected for the book, Jennie will contact the dreamers via return email to confidentially discuss the context, impact, and where applicable - the resolution of their dream(s). Contact her at icreate@paradise.net.nz "Primarily I am interested in how people have found value in nightmares or dark dreams in the sense of learning something vital about themselves or their life that they never knew before. These may be dreams that provided timely warnings, spotlighted alternative ways of dealing with things, or sparked them into exploring key existential questions. What is good, what is evil, what is just. And anything else that naturally comes up!! " Here is a general idea of Jenniešs approach to dark dreams and nightmares. "Because of their powerful and often "exaggerated" nature, they can show us more clearly how dreams communicate with us. And why. Where dreams come from is less important than what they say about our lives, the extent of our intuition, and the many levels we are able to connect even with the past and future. This experiential level is the level at which I am most interested in exploring dreams. One of the least obvious values of focusing on nightmares and dark dreams is perhaps the most important: Their incredible "slap to attention" shock value encourages us to "think for ourselves" about the way we are living our lives. Thinking for ourselves is the most valuable tool in a society addicted to following experts. Thinking for yourself is also an essential ingredient for gathering the courage to both question, and where necessary, change . In so much as they help people reflect on life and initiate new ideas - powerful dreams are not just of personal value - they are of community value. Dreams and Deja Vu I am interested in investigating two forms of deja vu, namely a) deja vecu (already experienced) which is situational (time-sequential), & b) deja visite (already visited) which is geographical (uncanny knowledge about a new place where one has never been before). I would like to receive: 1) accounts of especially striking instances of one or both of these types of deja vu (especially if they were in any way connected with important life situations, but more banal examples are welcome, too); 2) theories about how this or these phenomena arise; 3) theories about how it is possible for the mind to access the future (for those that believe it occurs); and 4) references to published papers and/or books related to this subject. Please send them via e-mail to Art Funkhouser, art_funkhouser@compuserve.com

Dreams Occurring Near Death I am a doctoral student at The Union Institute conducting research on dreams that occur near death. I am presenting a vision for partnering with the dying process through the medium of dreams, including dreams that occur spontaneously, those that we might seek intentionally, and those had by the people close to a dying person. My study is rooted in the hypothesis that dreams near death may teach us about death and offer guidance, support, and emotional resolution. I am gathering dream examples to test my hypothesis. If you or someone you know has had a dream that you would like to contribute, I would very much like to hear it. All reporting is confidential. A CV and references are available on request. Dream Bibliography Project I am currently working on the world's largest bibliography of dream-related books. This is in conjunction with doing book reviews for Dream Network Journal. The bibliography currently has over 700 titles. In addition to the general section, it includes special sections for Fiction/Literature, Children's Books, Myth & Story, Cross-Cultural Dreaming, Dream Ecology, Dream Songs and soon to be added: Dreams & Social/Political Issues. If you know of titles that should be included, but might be overlooked due to being from the small press or obscure, send them on to me. Dream T.V. Production My name is Dave Gardner and I'm writing a treatment for a television show dealing with dreams. The program will feature re-enactments of real dreams that Americans have had, followed by a dream interpretation session. I'm in need of finding people who would be interested in: 1. submiting their dream(s) to me to be considered for use in the program, 2. talking about, analyzing, and having analyzed a dream on-camera (if his or her dream is chosen). The show will focus on dream interpretation from many different angles...spiritual, scientific, psychological, etc. If you have dreams you are willing to share and/or you want to just talk about your research or perspective on dreams, please e-mail me at djg@pdos.lcs.mit.edu.

Dreams and Recovery My name is Steve Pilgram and I am doing some research on Dreams and the recovery process. I would like to hear from any person involved in addiction recovery who can contribute dreams, pieces of dreams, whatever that for them is attributed as being connected to the practice of their addiction or associated with their process of recovery. I would be interested in any comments and/or interpretations of how the submitted dream is related to their addiction although this is not a requirement to submit a dream. I would also be interested to know if anyone in the recovery process at any stage would be interested in answering a questionnaire I'm working on involving the identification of recovery themes in dreams. Dreams that Have Inspired Wondrous Joy
I am gathering descriptions of dreams by a dream conversation, an awe-inspiring setting, a melody, a beautiful painting, or a joyful encounter with an animal. Your dream may have inspired wondrous joy through a delicious taste, a soul-energizing touch, a scent that overwhelms you with delight, a sound that soothes ... a color that enchants you ... Fully describe your own and others' feelings during the dream. Please include permission to use your dream descriptions in my research and writing projects. I also need your age, gender, race, nationality, and if possible, the background events and feelings that preceded your inspiring dream. I don't need your name and identifying information will be changed to ensure anonymity. One of the additional purposes of this research is to provide a source of inspiring dream images fro artists, writers, musicians, dancers, etc. Contact: Karen Boileau dreamofjoy@aol.com . Karen F. Boileau, M.Ed., is a writer, community education instructor, dream counselor, and workshop facilitator. Karen has written several workbooks for her dream workshops and courses: "Artists Dreaming Joy"; "What Did You Dream Last Night?"; "Lose Weight Using Right-Brain Techniques"; and, "Stress, Dreams, and Intuition."
